Avalanche safety equipment rental
To practice ski touring and snowshoeing safely, it is essential to have appropriate avalanche safety equipment. We offer avalanche safety equipment rental at Skiset Luz-Saint-Sauveur , carefully maintained and inspected, to allow you to head out into the mountains in the best possible conditions.
Our rental fleet includes essential equipment for winter mountain safety : SAFETY PACK rentals which include an avalanche transceiver (DVA), shovel, and probe, indispensable for any ski touring or snowshoeing outing. We also offer rentals of Airbags are highly recommended safety devices to reduce risks in the event of an avalanche. When you receive the equipment, our team will explain how it works and the proper usage practices.
Before each outing, it is essential to consult the Avalanche Risk Assessment Bulletin (BERA) of the Pyrenees to adapt your route to the conditions of the day and analyze the stability of the snowpack.
Webcams at the resorts and snow conditions provide an initial indication of the mountain's state, but they are insufficient to assess risks in a natural environment. Conditions can change rapidly depending on the weather, wind, or snowfall.
For even safer ski touring in the Pyrenees, we advise you to be accompanied by mountain professionals, such as the ESF of Luz-Saint-Sauveur, the Bureau des Guides de Luz , and to inquire with the Luz Tourist Office about suitable routes and guided outings.
